SMW 2026: Setting the Pace for AR Navigation

Expanding the Horizon: VARCUS showcases future-ready solutions at SMW 2026

Strengthening ties with global regulators

VARCUS recently concluded a high-impact week in Singapore, participating in Singapore Maritime Week (SMW) 2026 as a key member of the Estonian national delegation. Alongside the Minister of Infrastructure and the Estonian Maritime Cluster, we represented the forefront of Baltic maritime innovation at the national booth. Our presence served as a vital platform for demonstrating that the future of navigation is not a distant vision, but a current reality. While much of the industry looks toward 2030 for AR integration, VARCUS proved that our ESBEN system is ready for deployment today, garnering significant interest from port authorities and leading ship management companies.

A major milestone of the trip was our engagement with global classification societies, including DNV, Bureau Veritas, and Lloyd’s Register. As our AR navigation assistant creates a new category of maritime tools, we have officially begun discussions regarding the standardization of AR-visualized data. Being at the inception of these regulatory frameworks reinforces our position as a pioneer in maritime safety technology. This technical validation was complemented by productive networking at the Estonian Business Hub and the Finnish Networking Reception, opening doors for strategic distribution partnerships in Australia and beyond.

Our time in Singapore was not only about technology but also about cultural and professional synergy. From exploring research collaborations with Finnish academic partners to experiencing the “Tintinnabuli!” concert by Arvo Pärt, the trip underscored the importance of international cooperation. As we move closer to establishing our legal entity in Singapore, the insights and contacts gained during SMW 2026 will serve as the foundation for our long-term growth in the APAC region.
